TGD - Tetrahymena Genome Database
The Tetrahymena Genome Database (TGD) collects and organizes information about the genetics, molecular and cellular biology of the ciliated protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila. Tetrahymena is a free-living, non-pathogenic member of this unique group of eukaryotes known as the Alveolata. T. thermophila is an experimental organism for molecular and cellular biology to investigate animal biology. This organism contains two nuclei. The macronuclear genomic sequence has recently been determined by TIGR. The sequence, predicted gene models, and automatic annotations from TIGR are included at TGD. The TGD staff add manual literature curation and integration with emerging Internet resources for ciliates. Thus TGD contains a variety of biological information and tools with which to search and analyze this genome and its predicted and experimentally defined genes and gene products. A Textpresso interface to full-text papers on T. thermophila provides a powerful query method to identify sentences within the published literature.
